My First Baby Girl in (Not) Her Crib

We have a room in our house that has, up until now, been a guest room. It was also in that room that we kept my stepdaughter’s hamster since it made too much noise at night to stay in her room. Well the cats figured out really quickly which room housed the small, potentially delicious, animal and they would always camp outside the door at night because they knew that’s when I’d feed the hamster.

On Christmas day this past year, it would seem that I didn’t fully close the hamster’s cage when I went to feed her. We unfortunately learned of this mishap when one of the cats came downstairs with the hamster in his mouth. Ever since then, we’ve had little reason to go in our guest room, but the cats would still wait outside the door every night trying to get close to the hamster.

Now that we’re expecting a new baby, we’ve decided to convert that guest room into a nursery. That means that we’re going in and out more and keeping the door open from time to time to get things setup. Well, despite the complete lack of small animals, the cats are loving the room and the new furniture. They’re going to be very upset when they’re not allowed in again.
